The Concealed Word in The Lord’s Prayer

Once he had peoples attention the prophet explained that he was speaking about spiritual food that nourishes in a way that physical bread never can.

In addition to asking for physical bread, when we pray the words “give us our bread continually” we are asking our heavenly Father to plant his Word in our hearts and rain down the living water of life so that it may grow into life-giving bread that fills our souls with satisfaction.

When we pray to God to “give us our bread continually,” we are asking the heavenly Baker to provide for our physical needs and to once again send his heavenly bread, the Word of God, to nourish our souls, to soothe our ears and to warm our hearts, so that we may meditate upon it day and night.
